  • As a reminder to our parents, as the weather gets colder, please have your children dress appropriately for outdoors.  As District policy, unless the temperature is below 20 degrees (feels like - including wind chill), students will be outside in the morning before school and go outside during recess.  In certain situations (e.g. ice on the playground making it dangerous), there may be exceptions to the policy.

  • Our charge as educators is to care for and fully prepare every student we serve. District 91 schools are a place of opportunity for all students. We must continue to nurture and educate each student who comes into our schools. All families in our community belong in our public schools. Ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program does terrible harm and disrupts our pursuit of these goals.  Our schools in District 91 are, and will continue to be, welcoming places for all families and children in Forest Park.

    Lou Cavallo, Ph.D.
    Superintendent

  • In preparation for the solar eclipse, District 91 ordered eclipse viewing glasses for our students. On 8/17, we were notified by the vendor that our order was refunded because of a safety recall. We searched in vain for a replacement for this order, however, we were not successful. Therefore, we will not be able to safely take students outside to view the eclipse. Students will be able to watch on television and see it darken through the window and will be given lessons on the eclipse. Student safety is our greatest concern, so we will not take the risk of them looking directly at the sun. We thank you for your understanding and are looking forward to a great school year!

  • The Future Ready network recommends that parents are given the opportunity to complete the Future Ready assessments. After hearing from many of you, we agree that the surveys may not provide parents the opportunities to really express their views. We also agree that the surveys are cumbersome and ask questions that most parents would not have the answer to. Therefore, we are not going to use these parent surveys in our Future Ready assessment. For those of you that started them and let us know how difficult they were, thank you for helping us reshape our approach.

We did gain valuable input from parents on the 5essential survey that was completed earlier this year. We will be looking at that data as we plan for improvement.

We still believe that parent input is critical in our planning for improvement but do not believe these surveys are the best way to get that information. We are including parents on the Future Ready Leadership Team so that parent input may be obtained as we develop our goals and strategies. We will reach out to the parent organizations to identify parents to serve on the Future Ready Leadership Team.

We apologize for this inconvenience. This is the first time we administered these surveys and were following the recommendations provided by the Future Ready network. As always, we appreciate all parent involvement and input.

  • With everything going on in the world today, District 91 wanted to take a moment to remind our school community and the community of Forest Park that District 91 schools are a safe and welcoming place for all students and staff. We appreciate that our students and staff respect themselves and one another. We promise to respect our differences and to embrace our diversity. We will respect our students and value each as an individual. We would not be who we are as a school community without each and every one of our students. We promise to protect our students and provide them with the education they deserve. We promise to empower them and challenge them to achieve higher. Our students are our future and we do what we do because we want each and every one of them to succeed.
