  • The Future Ready network recommends that parents are given the opportunity to complete the Future Ready assessments. After hearing from many of you, we agree that the surveys may not provide parents the opportunities to really express their views. We also agree that the surveys are cumbersome and ask questions that most parents would not have the answer to. Therefore, we are not going to use these parent surveys in our Future Ready assessment. For those of you that started them and let us know how difficult they were, thank you for helping us reshape our approach.

We did gain valuable input from parents on the 5essential survey that was completed earlier this year. We will be looking at that data as we plan for improvement.

We still believe that parent input is critical in our planning for improvement but do not believe these surveys are the best way to get that information. We are including parents on the Future Ready Leadership Team so that parent input may be obtained as we develop our goals and strategies. We will reach out to the parent organizations to identify parents to serve on the Future Ready Leadership Team.

We apologize for this inconvenience. This is the first time we administered these surveys and were following the recommendations provided by the Future Ready network. As always, we appreciate all parent involvement and input.

  • District 91 will join the Illinois State Board of Education in the 5th statewide survey of school climate and learning conditions. The survey provides a unique opportunity for students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools. Students, teachers and parents will be asked to take a 25 -minute research-based survey to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school’s learning environment. This survey will serve as an opportunity for schools to reflect on progress since the last statewide implementation. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be conducted November 16 through January 16, 2017. To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.

  • With everything going on in the world today, District 91 wanted to take a moment to remind our school community and the community of Forest Park that District 91 schools are a safe and welcoming place for all students and staff. We appreciate that our students and staff respect themselves and one another. We promise to respect our differences and to embrace our diversity. We will respect our students and value each as an individual. We would not be who we are as a school community without each and every one of our students. We promise to protect our students and provide them with the education they deserve. We promise to empower them and challenge them to achieve higher. Our students are our future and we do what we do because we want each and every one of them to succeed.
