As a rollover from the FY2017 strategic plan which stated, “District 91 will establish a strong brand and positive image in the community,” the district has been working toward creating school brands as well as an overall district brand. In FY2017, the school mascots were updated to help improve each school’s branding along with creating a consistency among the mascots.
This year the district has worked on updating the district’s logo, previously symbolized as gumby and a generic apple. The district began the process this fall with a logo inspiration contest, reaching out to students for help by submitting a graphic they felt represented District 91. The contest was open from October 18 - November 21. There was a total of 23 total submissions from students. One finalist was chosen from each school that participated and then there was a community vote, a staff vote and a student vote.
Our final logo inspiration winner, drawn by Grant-White’s third grader Nialiah, was announced on December 15. The district then began working with Yearbook Studios to create the final logo presented tonight for approval.
